If you get an error code 5100 on our Canon printer, most likely that indicates that there is a carriage jam of some sort. Either there is a piece of paper or other small object inside printer that is obstructing the movement of the carriage or like in this case, there was grease from the bottom rail that somehow was transferred to the timing strip. Cleaned the strip and error code was gone. You have to turn printer off and then on to see if error went away.
