תיאור
The sounds of the legendary Modzitz Hasidic dynasty gave tremendous energy to the celebration of Pesach in Brooklyn this Chol HaMoed. Rabbi Aaron Orlander, with his dear friend and musical partner Rabbi Dovid Bick, led an overflowing crowd in song for nearly three hours, with the energy continuously growing throughout. Many world-famous Modzitzer nigunim were on display, with several lesser-known gems sprinkled throughout as well. A highlight of the evening was the “KIinger” nigun, a dramatic through-composed piece in which major and minor passages battle each other for dominance, culminating in a surprising modulation that victoriously ends the piece. The entire evening was accompanied by the highly skilled pianist R’ Dov Lenchevsky, whose deep knowledge of Modzitzer nigunim elevated the evening beyond measure. The event also featured instrumentalists R’ Shmuel Chaim Helfand (clarinet), R’ Yisroel Aryeh Wachsman (violin), and Dr. Gordon Dale (guitar), who led the crowd in several beloved nigunim. This evening demonstrated that Modzitzer nigunim are thriving in Brooklyn as the potent energy uplifted the crowd and communicated a joy that was befitting the holiness of the holiday.
