תיאור
The Ford Capri is a partner model to Explorer and their structure is practically identical. Euro NCAP compared both vehicles to verify that the Ford Explorer results could be applied to Capri and performed additional tests where necessary. The footage includes video of the Ford Explorer 2024 and additional Capri 2024 tests.
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
▶ a frontal impact test where 50% of the width of the car strikes an oncoming deformable barrier, traveling at 50 km/h
▶ a frontal impact test where the car impacts a full-width rigid barrier
▶ a side impact test where a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
▶ a pole test where the car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
▶ a whiplash test performed on a sled.
A series of pedestrian tests are also conducted with different impactors: adult and child head form, and lower and upper leg form. As well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests. In 2023 a test scenario for Cyclist Dooring Prevention was introduced.
Active safety is rated based on the performance of the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car and car-to-motorcycle scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders, fatigue, distraction, and impairment), lane support, and speed assistance technologies.
