The lyrics of this song come from an ancient prayer originally composed by Yehoshua Bin Nun. The prayer appeared first in the Mussaf of the High Holidays and was eventually incorporated into all the daily prayers in the year 1171 in the lands of Ashkenaz after the extreme cruelties perpetrated against the Jewish communities by the participants of the Crusades. Yoely Greenfeld performs this composition beautifully with a subtle and rare sensitivity to its lyric.
