When African-American gospel singers sang this folk classic, they included Christological references such as: "If sister won't go, it won't hinder me. Oh, be baptized in Jesus name". But when Reb Shlomo sang this tune in Town Hall on Oct. 22, 1961 it was a Zionistic Judaized version. He also sang this tune in Israel with Hebrew explanations. Thanks @CarlebachBook for the info
