04. Kapital 122 (5783/ 2023), Longer Version, Class Four.
This class is only on the third Possuk ירושלים הבנוי’ה כעיר שחוברה לה יחדיו it says in essence that this city is about bonding שחוברה לה.
But the are so many aspects of this bonding:
1) The Mishkan and Beis HaMikdash; 2) Yerushalayim and the Beis HaMikdash; 3) the city itself and it’s physical order in design, 4) how that reflects a higher order and unity.
There are also higher ideas: 5) the heavenly Yerushalayim and the earthly one are always aligned, 6) on a higher level still, the physical Yerushalayim is (in one aspect) higher than the spiritual Yerushalayim, which is why Hashem says לא אבוא בירושלים של מעלה עד שאבוא בירושלים של מטה.
7) Then there’s חברות which is a law applied in the times of the second Beis HaMikdash to separate those who are and are not careful about דמאי and eating חולין בטהרה; yet on Yom Tov all Jews are Chaveirim, but only for the duration of Yom Tov.
This all ties into the notion of biding lower levels and higher levels in so many areas of Avoda (listed by the Rebbe the Tzemach Tzedek).
